Heritage, Wine & Family Traditions

Your first stop is one of Kakheti’s most significant spiritual and historic landmarks.
Kvareli Wine Tunnel
Continue towards Kvareli for a very different introduction to Georgian wine.
Hidden inside the mountain is an extensive underground wine tunnel originally carved into the Caucasus foothills.

From Kvareli, continue to Nekresi Estate for a relaxed afternoon of wine and food.

After lunch, arrive at Matilda and settle into your stay.
Dinner & Wine Tasting at a Family Winery
As evening approaches, visit a carefully selected family-owned winery.
Meet the family behind the wine, discover traditions passed down through generations and sit around a table filled with homemade dishes and Georgian wine.

Estates, Wine & Sighnaghi
Tsinandali Estate → Shumi Winery → Sighnaghi → Lunch at Pheasant’s Tears → Return to Matilda & Rest → Dinner at Agarani Estate

once home to Georgian aristocrat, poet and public figure Alexander Chavchavadze.
Explore the museum and gardens while discovering the fascinating history of a place that became an important meeting point for Georgian and European culture.
Wine Tasting at Shumi Winery
Discover indigenous grape varieties and learn about different approaches to winemaking, from Georgia’s ancient qvevri tradition to contemporary techniques.
Discover Sighnaghi
Continue towards Sighnaghi, the hilltop town known as Georgia’s City of Love.
Lunch at Pheasant’s Tears
In the heart of Sighnaghi, enjoy lunch at Pheasant’s Tears.
Return to Matilda & Rest
After a full day of exploring, return to Matilda.
Dinner at Agarani Estate
As evening arrives, head to Agarani Estate for dinner.
The complex is located in a setting connected with the historic residence of King Erekle II, one of the most important Georgian monarchs and a central figure in Kakheti’s history

One day we never reveal in advance.
There is one part of A Taste of Kakheti that you will not find on your itinerary.
No destination revealed beforehand.
No detailed schedule.
No ordinary sightseeing.
Instead, we create one carefully curated experience around the season, the people travelling and the kind of moments we believe you will remember most.
You may find yourself opening the doors of a family cellar that few travellers ever visit.
You may arrive at a table prepared somewhere completely unexpected.
You may spend the afternoon with a winemaker, a local family, an artisan or someone whose story could never be properly captured in a guidebook.
